I want more than just a home for these dogs, I want the perfect forever home! Every single dog I save- most from kill shelters, are in need of a home, yes, but they deserve the pure, unconditional love that they have been denied, yet, they still are dying to GIVE! I work hard at a matchmaking approach- getting to know you, your family, hours, personalities and dynamics so I can place a dog in need, in their new home- forever! The only thing I ever hear from my adopters- "I just wish I did this sooner." There is nothing that makes my heart more full than saving these dogs and watching their lives & everyone they touch, fill with such love and joy.
This little paralyzed boy was dropped off at a shelter to be put down because the breeder wasn’t about to SPEND money on his care…Oh no! Benji was supposed to MAKE money for him….So, he was dumped like his little life was worth nothing, like all the other breeder dumps!
But, because of one of my amazing transport angels, whom was already driving a bunch of other rescue dogs to me, saw his fate before her eyes, she called me immediately. Benji arrived to Dog Lover Rescue days later and has been making us laugh and stay ridiculously inspired, ever since!
Benji is not held back at all without the use of his back legs. In fact, he’s probably just as quick out of his wheels, as he is in them! He keeps up with all the other dogs and holds nothing back! He is a total character and ABSOLUTELY loves life! Benji would love other dog siblings in his forever home. He also adores every human- he likes to wheel right up and introduce himself to everyone when he is out for his walks (I think some of the others actually crave his confidence!) To say Benji is special, just doesn’t do him justice. Could you be his perfect forever home?!
This gentle 2 year old boy was hit by a car and left for dead. We believe he was then attacked while left suffering on the road. When shelter staff finally found him in a pile of laundry, they believe he had been dumped there by someone days prior and was not even moving. the extent of Moose’s trauma was unkniwn, as was his prognosis. Clearly, though, he needed immediate care and I felt honored to learn of this boy that had been so failed by humans. Moose‘s foster was nothing short of amazing. He opened his home and heart immediately, knowing there was mostly unknown for his future. But, we were on the same page from the start- love heals and works miracles. Moose is the greatest Evidence of this! The gentle giant went from a foster boy a forever home pretty quickly- the they saw how much Moose needed their love and nurturing to restore his health and feel safe. But, never realized the impact he would have on them, too! A month later, Moose, is his new dad’s best sidekick! He goes to work everyday with him, curls up in his bed, and is just grateful to have someone there…forever. From unable to stand on his own and shuddering at even the lightest touch, to running in his big yard with his doggie siblings & human 3 yr old sister, wagging his tail, full of joy…it is undeniable that love healed Moose.
Moose‘s forever family: “We could never imagine our family without him!”
Your support of this life saving mission means the world to me and all the lives we are saving. Often, I do not know the extent of the bills when I save a dog needing urgent medical attention. But no dog deserves to suffer in the shelter, waiting too long for someone to notice before their time is up. I see you and we will save you!
We rely on the generosity of dog lovers like you to keep this rescue going so we can save as many lives as possible & continue the frequent emergency vet care that is so often needed. From food to crates, surgeries, spays & wheelchairs- we need you! Every dime goes to the dogs of Dog Lover Rescue. Please donate today!

We have taken on more medical & urgent cases, as the rescue crisis is at its worst in decades. Dogs are being euthanized at alarming rates in our country and many sit suffering alone, in the back of shelters and on the streets, until their last breath. Please help so we can continue our mission! We pay to save, pay for emergency vetting, pay to keep them alive, pay to get them into homes and out of the shelters. Any way you cut it, we are paying and very much in the RED, so please, anything helps! Thank You, from all the rescues at DLR!
